What if my child is shy?
“My daughter was so nervous to perform, and be compared to others … she got nervous before her first choir performance, but was super excited the next time she performed! She is gaining confidence and losing her self consciousness.” ~ Clare, Pleasant Grove
What is Song Scouts™ exactly?
Welcome to a singing program designed to develop confident musicians, creative thinkers, and compassionate leaders. This curriculum guides students through seven progressive levels—from Sparrow to Starling—each marked by increasing independence, responsibility, and expressive depth. Advancement is not based on vocal perfection or natural talent. Instead, students grow through courage, consistency, reflection, and initiative.
What are the Song Scouts™ Tracks?
Our program is built around eight integrated tracks that develop the whole musician.
In the Brave Voice Track, students gradually build confidence by singing in new settings and sharing their voice publicly.
The Music Reader Track develops genuine musical literacy through sol-fa, scale awareness, and pitch relationships, giving students the tools to understand what they sing.
The Rhythm Rider Track strengthens steady pulse, subdivision, and rhythmic independence through active, hands-on work.
In the Song Builder Track, students learn to compose original melodies and lyrics, progressing from simple verses to fully structured songs with contrasting sections.
Healthy, sustainable technique is reinforced through the Healthy Voice Track, where students learn posture, breath support, vocal care, and the purpose behind warm-ups.
In the Harmony Explorer Track, they move from unison singing to rounds, partner songs, and multi-part harmony, developing listening skills and ensemble awareness.
The World Music Track exposes students to folk traditions, historical eras, and global languages, deepening cultural understanding and musical perspective.
Finally, the Music Leader Track builds conducting skills, rehearsal leadership, and service through music.
What makes this program distinctive is how these strands culminate. At the upper levels, students organize and lead a “Care Concert” for a senior or community setting, planning repertoire, coordinating performers, and creating opportunities for audience participation. They rehearse and conduct a full choir piece, demonstrating clear leadership, cueing, and musical direction. They also complete original songwriting projects, finishing the program with their own composed works—songs that reflect their creativity, growth, and personal voice.
Students do not simply learn songs; they learn how music works, how to create it, how to lead it, and how to use it to serve others. Along the way, they develop transferable life skills: public speaking, project planning, collaboration, cultural awareness, self-discipline, and reflective thinking.
Each level builds toward independence. Early stages focus on noticing and describing. Middle levels emphasize analysis and initiative. Advanced levels cultivate service, mentorship, and the ability to articulate personal growth. By the final level, students are not only capable singers—they are young musicians who can compose, conduct, organize meaningful performances, and foster a culture of singing in their communities.
Most importantly, this program reinforces the belief that every child has a voice worth developing. Progress is measured not by comparison to others, but by personal growth. We celebrate courage, creativity, leadership, and generosity alongside musical skill.
Thank you for supporting your child’s journey. We are honored to help them grow into confident singers and thoughtful leaders who know how to use their voices to make a difference. ♫♪
